Self-Care

Trust Me – It’s Okay

Most Educators have read Dr. Suess’s book, Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” My question to you is, where should educators, administrators, staff, and all go?

Here’s A Back-to-School Reflection

As a new school year begins, it’s easy to get swept up in lesson plans, seating charts, and supply lists. The energy and expectations are high, and the calendar is full. But before diving headfirst into the rhythm of the classroom, there’s something vital every educator needs to remember:

There are two places you need to go often:

The place that heals you.

The place that inspires you.

Teaching is more than a job—it’s a calling. And while it’s gratifying, it also asks many of you. That’s why it’s not just okay—it’s essential—to tend to your soul before pouring into others.

Go to the place that heals you.

Maybe it’s your morning devotional, your quiet time with God, a walk outside, or a moment of stillness before the day begins. Healing doesn’t always mean fixing something broken; sometimes it’s just allowing yourself to breathe, rest, and be renewed.

Your students need more than your curriculum—they need your calm, presence, and joy. Those things flow from a place of inner peace. Go there often.

Go to the place that inspires you.

What fills your heart with wonder? What reminds you of why you started teaching in the first place?

Maybe it’s the sparkle in a student’s eyes when they finally “get it.”

It could be flipping through photos of past classrooms, reading an old thank-you note, or watching the sunrise on your drive to work.

Wherever that place is—go back to it. Often.

Inspiration is not a luxury for educators—it’s your fuel.

As You Begin This Year…

Create space for both healing and inspiration in your weekly rhythm. Protect it. Prioritize it. Visit it faithfully. These are not escapes from your purpose—they’re the wells from which you draw your strength.

Your students are blessed to learn from someone who leads with heart.

And you are more powerful, present, and purposeful when you teach from a place of wholeness.

Here’s to a year of intention, impact, and inspiration.

Welcome back, teacher. You’ve got this.
